If you, or someone you care for is in receipt of the Higher Rate Mobility Component of DLA (or you are a pensioner in receipt of the War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement), then you could qualify for a car under the Motability Car Scheme. There is an extensive range of cars available, including 600 lower emission 'green' cars, and a wide selection of wheelchair accessible vehicles.
There are around 5,000 car dealerships across the UK that offer Motability cars, and most of the major manufacturers have cars available under the Motability scheme.
If you would like to take advantage of the scheme, then you should call your local dealer and book an appointment with a Motability Dealer Gloucester. Take your time looking at the cars, and don't hesitate to try test-driving each of the cars that you are interested in.
You are permitted to name up to two designated drivers. Be sure to invite those drivers along with you so that they can test drive the cars too. If you will be naming a driver under the age of 25, then double check that the car is suitable for them. There are some cars with young driver restrictions.
Some cars offered under the scheme require an advance payment, but there are many cars that do not have this requirement. If you are interested in a specific car, but do not think you will be able to afford the advance payment, then ask the dealer about any financial aid that they can offer. Don't forget that some of the smaller cars are available at a cost lower than the weekly mobility payment. If you opt for one of those cars then you will still receive the remainder of your mobility payment each week, and you are free to spend that money on whatever you want.
The range of types of cars that are available through the scheme is massive, in fact the vast majority of car, and therefore includes: Ford Focus, Toyota Avis, Audi A3, BMW 1 Series - contact your local dealer to find out more.
